Tribe / Genus: Lamprologini / Telmatochromis
Biotope: Shallow rocky habitat, observed at depths between 5 and 15 meters.
Geographic distribution: According to Ad Konings, this form is known from the Congo shoreline of Lake Tanganyika, between Kawasindi Island and Kitoke.
A very similar form was photographed by Siegfried Loose at Milima Island, which likely represents the same taxon referred to as Telmatochromis sp. 'vittatus elongate'.
Diet: Feeds mainly on filamentous algae. Feeding on eggs of other substrate brooders has also been observed.
Special notes: A very slender and elongated Telmatochromis form morphologically identical to T. vittatus, but lacking any melanin patterning.
The species is almost twice as long as T. bifrenatus and, based on photographic measurements, shows the same body depth as T. vittatus.
Very little is known about this form, as only a small number of individuals have been observed in the wild.
