Special notes:
Pseudosimochromis margaretae (Axelrod and Harrison, 1978) was described on the basis of
four specimens collected at a depth of three to six meters in the bay off Kigoma,
Tanzania, but a mistake was made: the material was actually a Lake Malawi fish that had
been labeled incorrectly.
The paratype photographed by Maarten Van Steenberge is therefore most probably a
Tropheops species from Lake Malawi.
This interpretation is based on personal communication with Adrian Indermaur
(21.7.2022).
