Mbwilo Bay, Lake Tanganyika, Tanzania
Photo gallery
Dusk approaches over the shallows in Mbwilo Bay near Kirando, with Mswa Hill visible in the distance.
This area is to a large extent unexplored. About 9000 years ago, the Kipili Archipelago was mostly dry land,
so the endemic species to this area, e.g., Lepidiolamprologus kamambae, Neolamprologus sp. “Mwila”, and
N. sp. “Cygnus Mwila” are therefore presumably young species.
